Bahamas Banana Blitz:
Impress your guests and family with
this delicious recipe it's one of our
fitness instructors favourites - as long as
you keep up the Yoga Roll-Up exercises as
well.
Step 1: In a medium saucepan,
bring the milk to a boil. Reduce the heat
to low and use the tip of a blunt knife
to scrape the vanilla bean seeds into the
milk. Gently simmer, stirring occasionally,
until the vanilla has infused the milk,
about 15 minutes.
Step 2: Meanwhile, in a
mixing bowl, whisk the sugar and eff yolks
until pale in colour, about 2 minutes. Sift
the cornstarch over the mixture and continue
whisking until just incorporated. Slowly
pour half of the vanilla-infused milk into
the egg yolk mixture, gently whisking until
well blended.
Step 3: Prepare a large
bowl of ice water. Return the egg yolk mixture
to the saucepan and place over a medium-low
heat. Gently cook, stirring continually
with a wooden spoon, until the mixture becomes
thick and creamy, about 5 minutes. Immediately
remove the mixture from the heat and strain
through a fine sieve into a medium bowl.
Place the bowl in the bowl of ice water
to chill the mixture quickly.
Step 4: When the pastry
cream is cool, press a piece of plastic
wrap onto the surface to prevent a skin
forming until ready to use.

 |
1 baked 9-inch (22.5cm) pie shell |

immediately arrange the slices in the cream-filled
shell. Top with the remaining pastry cream
mixture. Step 3: Cover
the pie decoratively with the remaining whipped
cream. Chill until ready to serve, or cut

serving, garnish each piece with a rosette
of whipped cream, banana slice and mint leaf.
Yoga Roll-Up
Caution: omit this exercise if you have any
kind of back injury.
Step 1: Lie on your back
with your knees bent, feet and knees together.
Reach your arms overhead, just above the level
of your ears. Squeeze your inner thighs together.
Inhale, and then exhale, drawing in the abdominals.
Step 2: Inhale, keeping the
abdominals engaged, as you lift your arms
forwards to roll your head and shoulders off
the mat, hinging forward from the sternum.
Make sure your shoulder blades are down and
the base of your shoulder blades are still
touching the mat. Step 3:
Exhale, drawing in the abdominals as you curl
your body off the mat, peeling your spine
off it one vertebra at a time. Try to create
a letter C-shaped curve with your spine as
you come up, pulling your abdominals deeper
in the higher you come. Step 4:
Keep rolling forwards as you continue to exhale,
rounding over with your arms parallel to the
mat and your fingers in line with your ankles.
Once your fingers reach past your knees straighten
your legs with feet flexed as you continue
to come forwards. Imagine you are rolling
up and over a beach ball placed on your thighs.
You will probably feel the stretch in the
back of your thighs. |
